Bosch Magnetic Core Drill GBM 38

The Bosch GBM 38 Professional is a magnetic drilling machine for core drilling and making holes in metal structures. It is suitable, for example, for metal installation work, locksmithing, industrial metalworking, framing and roofing work, as well as heavier woodworking.

Its compact, ergonomic and lightweight design makes working at heights and overhead easier. The drilling capacity is 12–38 mm. The tool has a speed of 450 rpm and a power rating of 1050 W; Bosch also highlights its affordable price and good value for money.

The maximum core bit diameter is 38 mm and the twist drill diameter is 13 mm. The drilling stroke is up to 117 mm. The tool holder is Weldon 19 mm (3/4”); using a twist drill with a cylindrical shank requires an adapter and a toothed chuck that accommodates drills up to 13 mm.

The magnetic base attaches only to ferrous metals, not, for example, non-magnetic stainless steel. The mounting surface must be smooth, clean and flat, cover at least the tool’s base, and be at least 12 mm thick. The tool can be used horizontally, vertically and overhead.

Use the included cooling system when drilling with a core bit. When drilling vertically, on an inclined surface or overhead, add coolant manually. Start the motor only after switching on the magnet. In the event of an overload, the thermal protection switches off the tool, but the magnet remains active. Before continuing work, remove any blockage and let the tool run idle for about one minute.
