After gripping the workpiece, Knipex Alligator holds pipes and nuts itself under load. This self-locking effect is possible thanks to the special jaw geometry developed by Knipex. The user does not have to squeeze the handles together, but can convert all the energy directly into torque. This feature is especially useful when releasing stuck threaded connections.

Compact design – large gripping capacity

Although these pliers are compact, their range of possible grip ranges is surprisingly large thanks to the 9-step locking adjustment: round parts up to 50 mm (2 inches) and nuts up to 46 mm, which is 30% more than conventional water pump pliers of the same size. Thanks to non-slip multi-component handles that insulate up to 1000 volts, the Knipex Alligator 88 06 250 is the ideal tool for electricians dealing with electrical installations and, with proper training, also for working with live parts.

Stable and wear-resistant – chrome-plated for outdoor use

Knipex Alligator offers a box joint design and double guidance for very high stability for professional use. The teeth of the gripping surfaces are induction hardened to about 61 HRC, which ensures the tool's long service life and a firm “biting” grip on the component. The Knipex Alligator has a strong construction, is easy to clean and is the ideal tool for outdoor work. In model 88 06 250, the pliers are chrome-plated. The chrome coating protects the pliers from rust, for example, in a craftsman's vehicle, where condensation can occur due to temperature changes. According to the IEC 60900 (DIN EN 60900) standard, these pliers are suitable for working with live parts up to 1000 V, provided that the installer has the relevant certificate.
