Diagonal cutting pliers for plastics and other soft materials

Why are special diagonal cutting pliers needed for plastics?

Conventional wire cutters have bevelled edges that cut the material in a wedge-shaped manner from the center. This leaves wedge-shaped cut surfaces on the wire ends. However, when separating plastic parts and sprue channels, a straight and clean cut surface is desired to minimize finishing work.

The Knipex 72 11 160 diagonal cutting pliers have surface-ground cutting edges that run parallel to the component. This allows the sprue channel to be precisely and cleanly cut directly from the surface of the part.

Cutting edges at a 45° angle – ideal for hard-to-reach areas

The Knipex 72 11 160 pliers are designed with the needs of the plastics industry in mind. They are ideal for separating plastic sprue channels from parts after demolding. Thanks to the surface-ground cutting edges at a 45° angle, even hard-to-reach areas, such as the corners of large and complex parts, can be cut cleanly and straight.

Opening spring for ease of use – compact and durable

Plastic part manufacturing processes, such as injection molding, often involve repetitive work steps. The integrated opening spring of the Knipex 72 11 160 pliers reduces the user's effort by saving an additional movement each time.

A length of 160 mm and a weight of 156 g make these pliers compact enough for mobile use in production processes. They are forged from vanadium steel, heat-treated, and oil-hardened, ensuring a long service life even in industrial use.
